EMULATION - AMBITION OR ENDEAVOR TO EQUAL OR EXCEL OTHERS. A STORY ABOUT ABRITES EMULATORS. PART 3.

As we draw the emulator story to a conclusion I got to thinking about the things I teach the people who come to Abrites. When we come to the topic of module adaptation I always use one of my favourite phrases about the adaptation of modules. I always talk about “Seamless integration” which is a phrase I use to describe the situation where after our input everything in the car feels and looks like it was never touched, even at close inspection by trained professionals such as people like you, who read my blog posts (almost) every week. I really enjoy build threads (remember those on forums?) and Youtube (where this topic migrated now). Why am I telling you this? Because I watch a lot of those and there are these really cool guys in Ukraine, (https://www.youtube.com/c/VIPLIM) who build G Wagens and a lot of other cool cars, even now during this period of war. These guys manage to fully integrate 7 series rear seats in G classes. I believe we all strive to do a job like that and I know it is not easy at times to be perfect, be it due to specific customers or time constraints. So today we need to turn our attention to the last two Emulators we provide:

I. Odometer calibration Emulators for Mercedes – Benz.
These are great, there is no going around them, I covered the idea behind it all in the Mercedes odometer calibration blog post, but, as usual if you need any additional info – please let us know.
1. EM008 - Odometer calibration emulator for W204, W212, W205 (FBS3/FBS4)

The ABRITES EM008 emulator is designed to assist the odometer calibration when this cannot be done by diagnostics.

Supported models:

  • A-class/GLA-class (2012-2019) – W176, W117, X156 and related models based on the same platform
  • B-class (2011-2019) – W246 and related models based on the same platform
  • C-class/GLC-class (2007-2021) – W204, W205, X256 and related models based on the same platform
  • E-class (2009-2016) – W212, W207 and related models based on the same platform
  • M-class/GL-class/GLE-class (2011-2018) – W166/X166 and related models based on the same platform
  • S-class (2013-2018) – W222 and related models based on the same platform
  • Vito (2014+) – W447 and related models based on the same platform


You will need to use the MN030 License together with these emulators for W205 and W222.

2. EM009 - Odometer calibration emulator with jumper cable for dash for W204, W212, W205 (FBS3/FBS4) – A great evolution of the EM008 with added functionality and much easier to install.
The ABRITES EM009 emulator is designed to assist the odometer calibration when this cannot be done by diagnostics.
It comes equipped with a cable set (jumper) which is used to connect to the cluster directly.

Supported models:

  • A-class/GLA-class (2012-2019) – W176, W117, X156 and related models based on the same platform
  • B-class (2011-2019) – W246 and related models based on the same platform
  • C-class/GLC-class (2007-2021) – W204, W205, X256 and related models based on the same platform
  • E-class (2009-2016) – W212, W207 and related models based on the same platform
  • M-class/GL-class/GLE-class (2011-2018) – W166/X166 and related models based on the same platform
  • S-class (2013-2018) – W222 and related models based on the same platform
  • Vito (2014+) – W447 and related models based on the same platform


An AVDI interface with a valid AMS subscription and MN030 (for W205) license are required for the odometer calibration of the dashboard.

3. EM014 - Odometer calibration emulator for Mercedes-Benz W213 – So we come to the latest of the Mercedes Odometer calibration emulators – the The EM014 odometer calibration emulator is an assisting tool in cases when the mileage recalibration function cannot be applied to all modules, thus blocking the synchronization between the cluster and the EZS. The emulator can be used for the following Mercedes-Benz models:

  • W213 (up to 2018)
  • W176
  • W246
  • W204
  • W205 (up to 2018)
  • W212
  • W222 (up to 2018)
  • X166


The aim here is to get another very good solution which for the moment has no alternative and will be very useful to anyone with interest in calibration for the models above.

II. ESL Emulators for Renault.
We all know the story -sometimes you cannot repair the ESL, mostly because it is not economical to repair. In these cases we have you covered. In this case we focus on the Clio IV type of connector because these cars are becoming more common sight in our workshops every day:
1. The EM010 Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) emulator is suitable for Renault vehicles using the Clio IV type ESL connector. This ESL emulator allows customers to simply remove the vehicle’s connector from the defective ESL and plug it in to the emulator.
It is a plug and play solution and no software is required.

Supported models:

  • Megane II/Scenic II
  • Megane III/Scenic III/Fluence/Zoe/Samsung SM3 L38
  • Laguna II 2005+
  • Laguna III/Latitude/Samsung SM5 2012+
  • Clio III
  • Clio IV/Captur I/Samsung QM3
  • Espace IV 2006+


2. EM011 - Renault ESL Emulator with Megane IV/Talisman type connector – a very similar situation with the Megane IV and Talisman type – we have you covered via the EM011, only here we have the added bonus of the Nissan models which share the platform.
The EM011 Electronic Steering Lock (ESL) emulator is suitable for Renault/Nissan vehicles using the Megane IV/Talisman type ESL connector.
This ESL emulator allows customers to simply remove the vehicle’s connector from the defective ESL and plug it in to the emulator. It is a plug and play solution and no software is required.

Supported models:

  • Talisman/Samsung SM6
  • Espace V
  • Megane IV/Scenic IV
  • Kadjar/Koleos II/Samsung QM6
  • Clio V/Captur II/Nissan Juke F16/Dacia Duster II
  • Nissan X-Trail T32/Nissan Qashqai J11


III. EM015 - JLR Ultra Wide Band Emulator – here is a solution we thought we’d never see. I glanced over the idea in the JLR key programming blog but back then it was only that – an idea. Now we have this same idea turn into reality, which is one of the things I like most about Abrites – no matter who you are in our company you have the ability to come up with a solution and this solution can quickly become reality.
The EM015 allows you to program keys to the JLR cars equipped with UWB which is more and more common these days. The way this emulator works is that it replaces the UWB module in the vehicle and connects to the KVM. You can read the details about it in the manual HERE, starting from page 24.
