VGS4 NAG2 TUNING The Next Step for FBS4 7G Tronic

VGS4-NAG2 TUNING: The Next Step for FBS4 7G-Tronic

I. Introduction

So far, we have discussed the topic of VGS4-NAG2 7G-Tronic transmissions and VGS plates so many times that frequent readers of this blog may have tired of discussing it.
We have spoken about the ways to adapt the FBS4 7G-Tronic transmissions. We have also spoken about the re-programming of BOOT, Software, and application in these transmissions.
We spoke about the different parts of the adaptation process—how you can replace the VGS, or replace the EHS, or replace both to provide not only the most cost-effective solution to your customers, but also the correct solution.
The one thing we haven’t discussed, however, is TUNING.

II. Tuning the 7G-Tronic

Using the Abrites Diagnostics for Mercedes, particularly the FBS4 Manager, you can replace the flash of the VGS4-NAG2. There are a few drawbacks here, however—you can only choose one of the pre-existing .CFF files, either from our server or from alternative sources.
This is limiting. On top of that, if you are a tuner who is only involved in tuning and not module replacement, you are faced with very high costs which, as a tuner, you cannot justify because you are simply not using the tool to its full potential.

III. The Abrites Solution: EP001 Update

In a couple of weeks, with our planned update around April 20, every single Abrites customer with a paid annual subscription will receive an update. As you may know through our news and trainings for the base AVDI, or just by looking at your License Viewer—
we continuously add new licenses to the interfaces of people who pay an annual subscription.

Among the most beneficial out of those licenses is the famous EP001, a license dedicated to tuning and module cloning with a focus on transmissions and engine control units (Abrites ECU Programming Tool).
When the update arrives, everyone eligible according to the paid subscription criteria will receive the update to include the tuning functionality for VGS4-NAG2.

The function includes two very distinct parts:

1. The Virtual Read

If you are unfamiliar with the term, here is what it is: In the world of automotive tuning and diagnostics, Virtual Reading is a clever "workaround" for ECUs (Engine Control Units) that are physically or digitally protected against standard reading methods. Instead of actually extracting the data from the car's chip in real-time, the Abrites software identifies the specific version of the software on the car and pulls a matching "clean" copy from our online database.

2. The Physical Writing

Although the reading we provide is virtual, the writing is real, meaning that the moment you modify the file you have obtained virtually from our database, you can write it directly to the transmission controller. This process is the best way to safely tune the FBS4 7G transmissions in our opinion, and the best part—we include that for the customers who subscribe to our annual subscription free of additional costs.

All that is left for us to do is finish the adaptation procedures for VGS4 500 NAG2 via direct connection and the full control over these transmissions will be yours.

Until next week, try to have fun at work,
Alek
