Engine-related Guided Functions Now Available in the Advanced Diagnostics for McLaren Vehicles (ML001) License!
Our team is happy to present thenext addition to the guided functions list for all McLaren models.
As of today, the ML001 license includes the following
Engine-related guided functions
System Readiness Test:
- Catalytic Converter Diag
- Purge System Diagnostic
- Secondary Air Diag
- Cam Control Diagnostics
- DMTL Leakage Test
Engine calibration-type guided functions:
- Throttle Adaptation
- Save Throttle Adaptations
- Clear Misfire Calibration
You get all these in the ML001 license without any additional charges!
This is a set of engine-related routines, tests and calibrations, allowing you to diagnose the engine’s state effortlessly, with just a few clicks.
Catalytic Converter Diag guided function is a test of catalytic converter performance in terms of oxygen flow, heating, efficiency and emissions, via gathering information by sensors throughout the catalytic converter. Keep in mind, it’s not a cleaning function!
Clear Misfire Calibration clears the stored adaptive values of the engine, and is usually needed when a spark plug or a coil is replaced, when there have been changes on the injector or major work is done on the engine.
Purge System Diagnostic tests the EVAP purge system, which is in charge of guiding fuel vapours to the engine for combustion. It checks the fuel tank pressure reaction, valve movement, and looks for leaks or errors in flow of the fuel tank.
Throttle Adaptation allows for a calibration procedure for the electronic throttle body (ETB). It teaches the ECU the precise positions of throttle fully closed, throttle fully open, idle control range. Throttle adaptation is necessary when the battery disconnects, throttle body is cleaned or replaced, or in cases of ECU programming or reset. It ensures stable idle and smooth throttle response.
Save Throttle Adaptations stores the current learned throttle adaptation values into non-volatile memory. It ensures consistent throttle control behavior, since learned values are preserved after an ECU reset. Typically used after the adaptation procedure to finalize calibration.
Secondary Air Diag tests the Secondary Air Injection (SAI) system, used during cold start to reduce emissions. McLaren models equipped with SAI (varies by market/emissions standard) require this test for verification.
Cam Control Diagnostics is a test of the Variable Valve Timing (VVT)/camshaft phasing system. This commands intake/exhaust cam phasers to specific positions, checks the response time and accuracy via camshaft position sensors and identifies stuck phasers, oil pressure issues, or faulty VVT solenoids. It is very useful in case of timing-related trouble codes appearing, rough idle, or poor power delivery.
DMTL Leakage Test checks the Diagnostic Module for Tank Leakage, which is part of the EVAP system. The test uses a small pump to pressurise the EVAP system, measures decay rate to detect small or large fuel vapour leaks and locates leaks in hoses, tank, purge valve, vent valve, etc. Equivalent to a built-in smoke/leak check for the fuel vapour system.
