NOVEMBER 1ST, DAY OF BULGARIAN NATIONAL REVIVAL LEADERS

Today in Bulgaria, we commemorate our National Revival Leaders, who kept the cultural, religious and historic identity of the people during the Ottoman rule, which went on for 500 years.
It is a holiday, celebrating national heroes, who engaged in revolutionary activities, socio-cultural movements, scientific work and literature.
The beginning of the Bulgarian Renaissance, as most historians call it, is marked with the creation of "Istoriya Slavyanobolgarskaya" (Slav-Bulgarian history) in 1762 by Saint Paisius of Hilendar or Paìsiy Hilendàrski. It is a pivotal moment in the nation's history, reviving the idea of national pride and glory.
