VIN Reader App Overview
VIN Reader App is a standalone application which works with a MODI device and allows you to read the vehicle’s identification number with the click of a button.
This Bluetooth-enabled interface is compatible with nearly all vehicle brands on the market. It allows you to connect to the vehicle and read the VIN numbers and mileage in it via the OBDII port.
Within 30 seconds the VIN Reader shows the identification numbers, then cross-checks it against a couple of databases for stolen vehicles, which ensures safety and security, both for professionals and for end users. With the new capability to detect mileage tampering, now you can also choose what to scan for when using the VIN Reader App.
Either VIN reading or Mileage reading, or both - it's up to you! Read the mileage information in all modules where it is stored! This functionality allows to easily compare mileage data in various units. In case major discrepancies occur, it is a probable sign that mileage tampering* had taken place.

After reading the VIN numbers and mileage from the vehicle, you can save the Report to a file and share it. This is a convenient way of transferring the information, when for example, a law enforcement professional is in the field and needs to send the data urgently.

With the new capability to detect mileage tampering, now you can also choose what to scan for when using the VIN Reader.

Once you open the VIN Reader mobile application, it begins scanning the vehicle for modules containing a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) and for mileage readings also.
The results can be seen in less than 30 seconds!

Basic Diagnostics Mode:
Absolutely safe for your vehicle! Scan all modules, effortlessly read and clear diagnostic trouble codes, monitor live values, and generate comprehensive health reports to access the condition of your car. This mode ensures worry-free diagnostics.
Basic Diagnostics Mode Includes:
- Full module scan of the vehicle - Detailed information on all the modules, Fast scanning of the whole car. MODI will scan all the modules in your car thoroughly to draw a detailed picture of the vehicle and let you know what is under the hood and within the chassis. The vehicle modules list contains information about all the modules and their VINs, manufacturer, software and hardware versions, and many more.
- Reading and clearing DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) - MODI will detect all present diagnostic trouble codes in your car and show you information about them. These DTCs can be saved for later analysis and cleared.Option to erase the DTCs with the click of a button, Safe and secure way to solve minor technical issues
- Monitor Live Values from all modules in the vehicle - See live data from your vehicle in real time in graph and table view using MODI. You can check out the coolant temperature, engine torque, mass air flow, injection quantity deviation, supply voltage, among thousands other values. This is a great way to check for issues which can only be registered upon ignition.
- Health Report - The Health Report is summarized information about the current state of your car, detailed info about your vehicle, showing all diagnostics trouble codes in all scanned modules sorted by condition and quantity. It is a great way to see where and what is out of order in your vehicle. You can later download the Health Report and share it with your diagnostician. The Health Report will help you maintain your car in the best way possible!

- Default Coding / Coding history - A very very useful procedure, which will help you in situations if you mess up something, or if you want to restore the factory settings of some module. Also you have the coding history and you could return previous settings you have made.
- Coding Options - Some of them are called Fast functions and you can find them when you connect to your vehicle, choose the brand and see the dashboard with your car model’s photo - fast functions are there, but not only! When you scan all modules in your car, you could find in each module which have coding options, a button called Fast Coding - there are full lists of coding and personalization options for your car. *Check your car and modules compatibility in the compatibility tab
